I joke a lot about...

SCUBA diving not being a hobby but like a lifestyle, or better yet, like an illness.  More and more its become a true statement at least for me and the crew I normally dive with.

From my experience, there's a paradigm shift when you catch the bug.  And, when I say "catch the bug", I'm not talking about your "once every two-three year resort" diving bug; I'm envisioning the "once to several times a week, I'll dive anything at least once" fever.  When this "infected" diver passes by a body of water, he wonders if it's dive worthy.  Free weekends at home become less and less; Vacation plans involves some body of water; gift he gives and receives is usually dive (or water) related.

Here's an illustration.  Below is a picture of me w/ The Fog in Cozumel, just a couple of hours before his wedding.  The photograph was taken by head usher, Silverman.  And, Yes.  We all made it to the wedding on time, just barely.

a quick diversion + it made me laugh...

Guaranteed what? on TwitPicI love super silly stupid things that makes me laugh.  I especially enjoy pictures or signs that cause people to respond with a "huh?!?"

Take for example, exhibit A to the left, titled "Guaranteed what?" taken by Chasity Forrester.  This picture just made my Friday morning.

I know, I know...  doesn't take much to please me.

Anyway, here are some good quotes about laughter...  try to remember them as you finish your work week out.

"Seven days without laughter makes one weak."  ~Mort Walker

"Laughter is an instant vacation. " ~Milton Berle

"The most wasted of all days is one without laughter."  ~e.e. cummings

"Laughter is the sun that drives winter from the human face. "
~Victor Hugo

"I like nonsense -- it wakes up the brain cells. Fantasy is a necessary ingredient in living.  It's a way of looking at life through
the wrong end of a telescope... and that enables you to laugh at all of life's realities." ~ Dr. Seuss

Leather Collar w/ Bone

No, it is nothing S&M related or anything crazy.  Although, I know that I have a couple of very sick and/or resourceful friends who would come up with interesting uses for this...  it's a collar... for a dog.

Let me correct that...  it's a *$78* collar...  FOR A DOG!

Pictures of you...

A photograph never grows old. You and I change, people change all through the months and years but a photograph always remains the same. How nice to look at a photograph of mother or father taken many years ago. You see them as you remember them. But as people live on, they change completely. That is why I think a photograph can be kind.

Yes!!!

So, Sherrie being a cunning linguist obviously has been able to refine her scrabble and word twist skills to point that makes it really difficult for me to win any word building related games.  If you didn't know this, you see me complain all to often here on my blog (here and here).  Her lexicon is top notch...  and her ability to see words out of nothing is uncanny.

This skill isn't so much a skill she learned, it's more like a skill that's bred into her...  I can confidently say that it's most definitely in her blood.

How do we know this?  Play against Tara, her sister...  and, if you want a really annihilation invite, into the picture, Julia, Sher's mom.

I have just one word to say Julia and her word skills.

"Huh?!", which loosely translates to "Holy moly, mother of god, how does she come up with these mad points?!"

Anyway, the point is not so much to pay accolades to the girls' skills, but rather, throw down some smack.  Since I very rarely have the opportunity to gloat, I'm doing so now.

Yes... that's me winning a game.  I know, it's not necessarily a "kicked ass" win or a "run away with your tail between you legs" annihilation, but it's a win, nonetheless.

Did I mention that we're all VERY competitive?

New "High School Musical" Cast

I'm a big Disney fan. Always have been. I'm sure it has everything to do with my parent taking my sister and me to Disney World every other year to visit rides like Space Mountain, The Carousel of Progress and The Haunted Mansion. Not to mention the numerous times we got to hang out with Mickey Mouse and his crew.

To me, Disney World is a kid's dream come true... And of course, we've been taking our kids there too... so, it's become a sort of family tradition to get there at least once every three years.

It's obvious that Disney has figured out the formula for success. And this formula seems to work equally for both kids and adults alike.

Currently, the phenomenon known as "High School Musical" has invaded our household. So, it's of no surprise that Vivian would get something "High School Musical" related for her birthday.

From here aunt and uncle, Martini Jeanne and The Fog, she received "High School Musical Sing It" for the Wii. And let me tell you, it's pretty awesome. It's pretty much a karaoke game and all songs are from both HSM and HSM2. Basically, you earn points and a grade for hitting the right notes, at the right pitch, at the right time. Better the performance, you open up new options and extras throughout the game.

The picture, herein, is of Sher and the kids singing some tune from the game. You could see the kids being hams in my flickr set located here: http://www.flickr.com/gp/53796034@N00/7R3466

Lindsay Lohan != Marilyn Monroe

New York Magazine (NYMag.com) commissioned Bert Stern to take photos of Lindsay Lohan.

Lindsay's photos mimics a collection of Marilyn's photos known as "The Last Sitting." Which were also taken by Bert Stern took back in 1962 (for Vogue), six weeks prior to Monroe's death.

According to the article by NYMag, Stern suspected "she has a lot more depth to her." Lohan having a very similar situation to Monroe's "tripped" up career.

I don't know, if I agree... but, then again, I'm not the artist that got to take all the naked picture of two pop icons from two totally different generations.

On a somewhat related note, Lindsay's mom approves and is happy with the photos. So, that must mean that it's okay.

You can check out Mr Stern's site at: http://www.bertstern.com/

My Visual DNA

imagini has put together this little tool which allows you to describe yourself through pictures, they call your visual DNA.

Basically they ask you a question, have you finish a sentence or do word association with sets of pictures... based on your response they evaluate your personality from four different aspects: Mood, Fun, Habits, and Love.

Here's mine:

I like pictures... I take 'em, it's what I do.

I am by no means a photographer.  I don't lump myself in with the people that actually plan to and actually take beautiful pictures.

Hot and Crusty

I can't categorize myself as a photographer because I know that I just do a whole lot of pointing and shooting.  There's no consideration for lighting, definitely no thought in composition or all that other foo-foo.  I just point, click and hope to get a good picture.

img546

With the point and click mentality, I do take a lot of photos.  And, if you know me, it's not all portraits, drunken escapades or landscapes...  I do have like to capture images that make me laugh or I find interesting.  Since it's all digital, I don't have the cost associated with printing or using "consumable" film.  So, I just snap away.  Sheesh...  Hard Drives are so cheap now a days.

Now, with 2007 coming to an end, I have to archive my photos to my archive hard drives and cut a DVD, just in case.

Doing a quick inventory, I have photos dating back to 1999.

Holy moly...

Looking back at over eight years of photos, has gotten me to think more about the things I've been able to do, the relationships I've built, those ones I haven't nurtured and all the people that touched my life.  Overall, I do feel lucky.  I may never win the lottery or become the multi-billionaire I long to be...  but, I do surround myself with good people and have lots of good times with them.

If you're interested in seeing some of the photos I've put together in the latter part of 2007.  Check out these links:

Happy Thanksgiving

My photos from the past couple of days are up. They are from the Parade and Thanksgiving Dinner. View 'em in my Picasa Web Albums... if you're interested:

NYC Thanksgiving
Here's a couple of pictures that make me chuckle... Can you see what's funny about this picture? Look closely, it's the beloved Walt Disney character and star of JoJo's Circus, Miss JoJo herself. Many of the adults around us got a kick out of it. Maybe JoJo is a turkey activist and is voicing her opinion of the needless slaughter of many turkeys during this time of year... Maybe she's tired of being held down by the man, representative of the many ropes that have her bound so close to the ground...

Maybe she's tired of being a Disney sell-out...

JoJo, if I could, I'd set you free.

An Autumn Get Together

So, we got together for a number of reasons and here are the results:
