Until recently vampires were second to my love of zombies, unfortunately the recent hype for the emo-teenage-vegetarian-vampire-like "vampires" had dropped the nasty blood suckers down a couple of notches on my "cool" scale.   

That is, until now.

And Yes... I know about True Blood and all the Sookie goodness... but, I'm talking movies, not long drawn out series that keeps you craving more every week like a dog begging by the dinner table. (Which is exactly how I feel every Sunday evening.)

This is a story of boy meets girl, begins the wry, probing narrator of 500 Days of Summer, and with that the film takes off at breakneck speed into a funny, true to life and unique dissection of the unruly and unpredictable year-and-a-half of one young man's no-holds-barred love affair.

If you know me, I love movies. I mean I'll pretty much watch just about anything. Why? Because, I'm a loser.

Plus, throw in the the fact that Sherrie is normally my movie watching partner, chances are I'll have a pretty well rounded repertoire. Just so we're clear, Sher's the one to add culture and class to my normal movie line-up (e.g., "Shoot 'Em Up", "Time Bandits", and "A Time to Remember")

In 2009, there's a whole bunch of movies I would like to take time out to see; however, one has caught my eye enough that I couldn't help but highlight it here.

I mean it has three words that'll get most any heterosexual guy pretty excited, i.e., "Lesbian", "Vampire" and "Killers". So, you know you can't go wrong.

The movie has already been release in Germany and is slated to be in the UK, on March 20th. When will it be in the US? I dunno, but I'm sure Google has the information somewhere in it's information hungry belly.

I'm not a big Rob Zombie fan, although I've seen all of his work. 

He's putting together a new movie, Tyrannosaurus Rex. 

What's it about? 

Who knows...  but I would be willing to bet there will be a lot of blood, violence, and nudity.

Would I see this movie? 

Probably, but only because of this poster.

Holy Crap... Zombies...

Derren Brown is a British magician, psychological illusionist and a mentalist.  He had a series on British television's Channel 4 called Mind Control.

Check out this little clip.  He places the video game in a pub, to lure a patron into playing the game. The game, which Brown developed puts the player into a submissive trace.  He claims this works on 1/3 of the people he's tested it on.  Once he finds a suitable person, he then takes the catatonic "victim" and places him in a real-life recreation of the video game, having him fire an air gun at actors, pretending to be zombies and outfitted with explosive squibs.

Can you say HOLY CRAP?!?  This was done back in 2005 and I just stumbled upon it via a link sent over by my buddy Pat.

BTW, I'm a zombie lover...  so, stuff like this always gets me all giddy inside.  Also, if you haven't done so...  check out Romero's latest movie "Diary of the Dead" which release in theaters earlier this month.

Lucky You

So Netflix sent us the movie Lucky You. It's a drama about a Las Vegas native Poker Player trying to win a seat into the 2003 World Series of Poker Tournament. The real story is about how he's fighting a difficult battle with his personal problems, specifically his relationship with his father.

All I can say that watching the movie was very much like watching a Texas Hold-em Tournament. Slow and boring. (for me, poker isn't fun, unless I'm playing in it) However, if you're a big poker fan, you'll get a kick out of all the cameos.

The only thing I got out of it was a line said to the main character Huck Cheever (Eric Bana) from his poker sponsor Roy Durucher (Charles Martin Smith)...

You want sympathy? You'll find it between "shit" and "syphilis" in the dictionary.
