My new late night muse.

Now that I have finished the first and only season season of "Firefly" on Hulu, I need something to watch during my late night work sessions.

hulu

Though HULU has a whole set of good movies and shows (old and new) to watch... I've found something else to have on the secondary monitor while hacking away.

I just recently found out that Trey Parker and Matt Stone have opened up their show "South Park" to the Internet.  What exactly does this mean?  It means that every episode from every season of South Park is available online for free.

southpark

That's about 65 hours of crazy and offensive shenanigans!

Check out the site here: http://www.southparkstudios.com/

Now, I just need enough coffee to work 65 hours straight.  God knows I have enough work...

Holy Crap... Zombies...

Derren Brown is a British magician, psychological illusionist and a mentalist.  He had a series on British television's Channel 4 called Mind Control.

Check out this little clip.  He places the video game in a pub, to lure a patron into playing the game. The game, which Brown developed puts the player into a submissive trace.  He claims this works on 1/3 of the people he's tested it on.  Once he finds a suitable person, he then takes the catatonic "victim" and places him in a real-life recreation of the video game, having him fire an air gun at actors, pretending to be zombies and outfitted with explosive squibs.

Can you say HOLY CRAP?!?  This was done back in 2005 and I just stumbled upon it via a link sent over by my buddy Pat.

BTW, I'm a zombie lover...  so, stuff like this always gets me all giddy inside.  Also, if you haven't done so...  check out Romero's latest movie "Diary of the Dead" which release in theaters earlier this month.

IMDB's info on Romero's Latest piece of work.

Here's the "official" trailer:

My kids love the water.

I simply love the fact that my kids love the water. It can be an ocean, a lake, an old rock quarry, the creek by my old high school or even the garden hose in the backyard... no matter what it is, my kids enjoy just getting wet and having fun.

This photo was shot off a beach resort in Cozumel summer of 2007. It is one of my most favorite pictures. You can't see it in the photo, but Vivian has on a set of fins so that she could chase the fish around. She was a torpedo. It took just about everything in me to keep up with her.

The girl wants to be a "Scientist" that works with "Animals in the Water"... I translate that into her wanting to be a Marine Biologist... or maybe a dolphin trainer at Sea World... either way, she's well on her way to becoming a SCUBA diver; which gets me all excited.

She's definitely daddy's little girl.

A Testimonial for Kittens.

Ain't it the truth?

Color Wars 2008

Sometime last week, people on twitter began changing their avatars to join certain colored teams.  I first got wind of the formation of teams from an iJustine twitter.  It being a pretty late in the work day, I decided why not and I joined the FF1CAEteam. Most of the "Peaple" went green, obviously.  But, I went Pink...  Why?  Mainly because Vivian likes Pink.  ("Pink is the New Black", you know.) Plus, I'm comfortable with my masculinity to be on a pink team.

Basically it was the start of the old school Color Wars...  Kinda like field day on the last day of school or camp.

The first challenge was posted today on http://colorwar2008.com/, it's called GAME #1: Bad Ass RoShamBo.  Now, RoShamBo means a lot of different things...  but, in this case...  it's virtual "Rock", "Paper", "Scissors".

Here’s how it works (from the aforementioned website):

  1. Take a picture of yourself throwing either “rock”, “paper” or “scissors”.
  2. It must be clear which of the three you are throwing.
  3. You must be in your team uniform (do your best).
  4. Upload your photo to Flickr and tag it like this:
    rsb:move=yourmove rsb:team=yourteam rsb:player=yourtwittername
    (for example rsb:move=rock rsb:team=blueteam rsb:player=zefrank)
  5. Submit a link to the flickr photo below or at http://www.colorwars2008.com/rsb

If you're interested in finding out how this all came about, check out zefrank's blog about it, here: Colorwar 2008.

And here’s my submission:

In DMX's own words...

This guy is famous?  This guy makes a living from hip/hop?  He makes more money than most of America's middle class?!?

WTF?!? I just don't get it.

Here's an excerpt from XXL Mag's interview with DMX.

-- snip --

Are you following the presidential race?
Not at all.

You’re not? You know there’s a Black guy running, Barack Obama and then there’s Hillary Clinton.
His name is Barack?!

Barack Obama, yeah.

Barack?!

What the fuck is a Barack?! Barack Obama. Where he from, Africa?

Yeah, his dad is from Kenya.
Barack Obama?

Yeah.
What the fuck?! That ain’t no fuckin’ name, yo. That ain’t that nigga’s name. You can’t be serious. Barack Obama. Get the fuck outta here.

You’re telling me you haven’t heard about him before.
I ain’t really paying much attention.

I mean, it’s pretty big if a Black…
Wow, Barack! The nigga’s name is Barack. Barack? Nigga named Barack Obama. What the fuck, man?! Is he serious? That ain’t his fuckin’ name. Ima tell this nigga when I see him, “Stop that bullshit. Stop that bullshit” [laughs] “That ain’t your fuckin’ name.” Your momma ain’t name you no damn Barack.

I've never been a believer of Al Gore...

...even if he did invent The Internet.

but, check out John Coleman's (founder of the Weather Channel) comments on Fox and Friends, here.  He wants to sue Al Gore.  I just love it.

Also, check out this BBC Report titled "The Global Warming Swindle"  I've posted this before and am posting it again.  I do have to thank The Fog for finding this link.

Now, I'm not saying we shouldn't be more conscience to being more green.  I think it's a good thing to Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and Rethink.  Plus, if it's a cause that can get 600 people naked, I'm all for it!

A Thursday Night Post...

The following pisses me off:

  1. DTS is NOT automatically included with SQL Server Express 2005
  2. My unhealthy addiction to alcohol, nicotine, caffeine and oxytocin.

Actually, I don't mind item 2, so much.  I just needed something else to put on my list.  Really, there's not too many things that pisses me off.

I'm mentioning Microsoft SQL Server Express 2005 only because I'm still at the office knee deep in databases that have no user documentation to it and, frankly, are designed in such away that I thinkknow the original developer just wanted to make life a living hell for his/her replacement.

It's now 11:30pm, which is about the time, I finish up my diet pepsi, crack open a beer, light up a cigarette and throw the laptop out the window.

For those of you looking for a DTS alternative...  there really is nothing out there.  You could use SQL Servers 2000 DTS Wizard via the 2005 ToolKit and tie it in as an external tool to the manager or use Microsoft Database Publishing Wizard with is compatible with MS Visual Studio 2005 and Visual Web Developer 2005.

Neither option is ideal, but definitely better than BCP.  Sigh...

Something to make you think.

I was going to make a comment...  but didn't want to sway anyone's opinion either way...  So, I'm just sharing this video.

A great two minute diversion...

What happens when I do house calls.

On several occasions, we do house calls and assist clients with their home computer or networking needs.  It's no big thing, actually, it can be pretty enjoyable...  especially if it's after hours and the client is more a friend who has a case of beer in the fridge.  Check out what happens to me way too many times to count.

Okay, for the record, nothing like this has every happened to me, since most of my clients are middle-aged men...  sigh.

And, another note for the record, *I* am not the Mariah Carey fan, although, I do find her attractive, her music is a little to bubbly for me.  I found this via The Fog who sent it over via StumbleUpon... I think he might be a closet Mariah fan.  ;)

StumbleUpon is a cool little "time-wasting" utility, btw.

No one is to blame...

Thanks to my beautiful friend Tricia, I'm having my own Howard Jones concert at the office today.  ;)

I'm calling it the Howard Jones Rediscovery Tour.

That Chris is a lucky man...  Miss Trish enjoys beer, hockey, cooks, and she's a kick-ass attorney, not to mention she can also school me in a whole bunch of subjects, including 80's music.

Happy Ohio Primaries Day!

Remember kids, one of the greatest privileges for being a United States citizen is your right to vote.  It is a right that we take for granted...  don't do so today.

i_voted

Today's primaries does not just deal with the individual party leaders for the presidential race.  There are Federal and State Congress candidacies up for election, as well as a whole slew of local issues.

So Vote!!

It'll make you feel good, and it's better than sex.

ok...  maybe not.

It's never too early to shop for Christmas...

I stumbled across this video of a scary Christmas bear, whose glowing rosy red cheeks look like fire from the depths of hell.  Not to mention the thing speaks in tongue.  How cool is that?

I'm thinking of getting this for the kids Christmas 2008.
